Arkansas won big at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards in Nashville last night, taking home three awards.

Mammoth Springs native, Ashley McBryde, received the 2019 CMA award for New Artist of the Year. Beating out fellow nominees Cody JohnsonMidlandCarly Pearce and Morgan Wallen in her first ever CMA Awards nomination. Not too bad for a “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.”

Springdale native, Jenee Fleenor made CMA history this week, marking the first time a female has received both the nomination as well as taking home the award for CMA Musician of the Year.  The in-demand touring and session musician performs regularly in the house band of NBC’s hit show The Voice. Jenee is a member of Blake Shelton’s band and has toured with the likes of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Martina McBride and many more. 

Natural Dam native, Shay Mooney, is one half of the award winning country duo Dan + Shay. The duo were awarded their first ever CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year. The duo also performed their heart filled ballad “Speechless” at the event. You can watch their performance below.
