New York late in the year has found its house band. For several seasons now, James Murphy and LCD Soundsystem have opted against standard tour routing, choosing instead to park their gear in one spot and let audiences travel to them. That habit returns in late 2026 with a twelve-night run divided between the Knockdown Center in Queens and Brooklyn Steel.
The pattern took shape in 2017 with an extended stand at Brooklyn Steel, settling into a formal annual tradition by 2021. Murphy laid out the reasoning in a 2022 Facebook message, explaining that setting up shop in intimate rooms creates a connection that sterile arena tours simply cannot match. That setup still governs their domestic touring life, prioritizing physical proximity and better sound over massive single-evening capacities.
This winter stretch splits evenly across three separate blocks. The run starts in Queens at the Knockdown Center for four nights from November 19 through November 22. The crew then packs up for Brooklyn Steel, playing four dates on November 30, December 1, December 2, and December 3. Finally, the group heads back to the Knockdown Center for a four-night finale on December 10, 11, 12, and 13.
The opening night of the Brooklyn Steel leg on November 30 marks a significant milestone, serving as the band's 100th residency concert in New York City. Promotional posters describe that particular gig as a blowout celebration, with the group promising a curated lineup of guest performers and DJ sets. The residency environment also gives the band leeway to shake up their repertoire. During their twelve-night stand at the Knockdown Center late last year, they dusted off their 2005 track Too Much Love, playing it live for the first time in fourteen years.
Tickets roll out through staggered windows in early October. American Express cardholders receive first crack on Tuesday, October 6, starting at 10am Eastern Time. Whatever inventory remains will go up for grabs in the general sale on Friday, October 9, at 10am Eastern Time.
The New York announcement comes on the heels of an active stretch of touring elsewhere. LCD Soundsystem recently finished a North American run that took in festival appearances at Just Like Heaven and Shaky Knees. Their European travels featured an extended residency at London's O2 Academy Brixton, a Glastonbury performance, and a co-headlining date alongside Pulp at the Hollywood Bowl. Looking forward, the band is slated to support Harry Styles in Rome on his Together, Together stadium tour next summer. Styles cited LCD Soundsystem's live show as an inspiration for his fourth solo record, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, while Murphy joined Styles during his Meltdown festival curation in London earlier this year.
Fresh studio material remains slower to arrive. The group has not delivered a full-length album since 2017's American Dream, which ended a seven-year wait following 2010's This Is Happening. Noah Baumbach's 2022 feature White Noise brought the standalone single New Body Rhumba, and the recent drop of X-Ray Eyes ignited speculation that a new LP was imminent. Murphy quickly stepped in to clarify matters. While X-Ray Eyes opens an in-progress project, the record is far from finished. Murphy noted that progress only happens when the group leaves the stage behind, making it clear that release dates will remain off the table until the masters are complete.
