When Open'er Festival convenes on Poland's Baltic coast for its 2027 run, the gathering will mark a substantial milestone with the exact artists who helped launch the enterprise. Promoters have confirmed that The Chemical Brothers will headline the Orange Main Stage on July 1. The booking arrives precisely a quarter of a century after Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons topped the bill at the inaugural 2002 festival, offering a clean historical arc for the four-day event in Gdynia, which runs from June 30 through July 3.
The electronic duo have scarcely slowed their work rate in the lead-up to this anniversary appearance. Following the release of their tenth studio record, For That Beautiful Feeling, in 2023, Rowlands and Simons embarked on an extensive arena tour across the United Kingdom and Ireland. Early 2024 carried that live momentum further abroad, taking the pair to stages across Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Later that spring, they loaded their complete production setup into London's Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series. Even between full-scale stage spectacles, the two have remained active behind the decks, including a DJ appearance at San Francisco's Portola Festival in 2025.
Outside the primary partnership, Rowlands has also channeled his energy into new creative ventures. Near the end of 2025, he joined forces with Norwegian vocalist AURORA under the collaborative moniker TOMORA. The pairing moved quickly, delivering their debut full-length, Come Closer, earlier this year before staging their first concerts and arranging a 2026 tour across the United Kingdom and Europe. TOMORA also have more material queued for release, with their Celebration EP scheduled to arrive on October 16. Meanwhile, the Chemical Brothers catalog continues to generate unexpected commercial momentum. Their 2015 track Go reentered the UK Top 10 after a 429 percent jump in streaming numbers, an uptick triggered by its inclusion in the Netflix feature Apex.
The latest announcement stretches into mainstream pop and singer-songwriter fare as well. Ellie Goulding is booked to headline the Orange Main Stage on July 3. Her trip to Poland follows her sixth studio effort, I Know Too Much, which arrived last month as the successor to 2023's Higher Than Heaven. Goulding approached the project as a direct form of musical journaling, aiming to bring her thoughts and experiences together with unvarnished honesty across the tracklist.
The main stage lineup for July 1 also features 5 Seconds Of Summer. The Australian outfit are currently playing behind their sixth album, EVERYONE'S A STAR!, a project that found the musicians deliberately leaning into the boyband tag while launching what they have called their most ambitious live tour to date. Slovakian artist ADÉLA will then take her turn the following evening on July 2, touring in support of her debut record PRIMA, which landed last month.
Rounding out this batch of additions is Underscores, who will bring the hyperpop material from her record U to the Alter Stage on July 3. These newly named acts join an existing roster that already includes Tame Impala, RAYE, The Neighbourhood, Sombr, and the Patti Smith Quartet. Standard passes for the four days in Gdynia are currently on sale through the festival website.
