The massive gathering in Louisville launched its four day schedule on Thursday, September 17, bringing more than two hundred artists together across the weekend. Papa Roach were booked for a Saturday, September 19 slot, positioned as their final live date in the United States before embarking on overseas commitments later this autumn. Instead of taking the stage for that domestic finale, the musicians delivered the disappointing update directly to their audience across social platforms.
According to the statement released by the band, medical personnel stepped in to advise Esperance to stop and seek care. The group told fans that after careful consideration and advice from medical professionals, Esperance would be unable to perform this weekend due to an unexpected emergency. They confirmed they would not be able to take part in this year's festival, adding their best wishes for everyone attending. The priority for the rest of the band remains entirely on Esperance's recovery, alongside a request that supporters grant him privacy while he heals.
The current timeline indicates that Esperance should be cleared in time for the band's impending European itinerary. Papa Roach are set to resume activity on November 1, kicking off their Rise Of The Roach tour at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow. The schedule carries them through the United Kingdom and Ireland, booking arena dates across Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester, and the Utilita Arena in Cardiff, alongside a major stop at London's O2 arena.
After completing those dates, the tour crosses over to the European mainland, working through several weeks of arena appearances before finishing up on December 6 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. The winter schedule represents an ambitious run, making Esperance's recuperation over the coming weeks all the more essential for the road crew and musicians alike.
That upcoming European visit also builds upon the group's ongoing work with mental health organizations. During an earlier trek across the United Kingdom last year, Papa Roach presented a check for twenty thousand pounds to the organization CALM just prior to walking out for a sold out performance in London. The band intends to maintain that partnership during the November tour by contributing one pound from each ticket sold directly to the organization.
