The July 5, 1975, arrest of Rolling Stones guitarists Ron Wood and Keith Richards in Fordyce is now legend among Arkansans, and just another scrape with the law for the outlaw band.

Fresh off a gig in Memphis, Tennessee. Richards and Woods decided to drive to their July 6 concert in Dallas, Texas.  Shortly after 3PM, Richards is pulled over for “Reckless Driving”, police officers Joe Taylor and Eddie Childers thought that they smelled marijuana, and had the car impounded. After getting a search warrant, police discovered just under two grams of cocaine in the briefcase of passenger Fred Sessler. Richards passed a sobriety test but was cited for carrying an illegal weapon—a hunting knife. After posting bond the Stones were released from custody just before midnight.
