John Paul White, formerly of the 2012 Grammy Award®-winning duo The Civil Wars, is set to play the AMP Fest stage. The announcement comes on the heels of White’s popular performance at Fayetteville Roots Festival this weekend.
White will return to the region Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 for AMP Fest, an annual beer, music and tech festival from 4-9 pm at the Walmart AMP. Proceeds from the event support Walton Arts Center’s arts education programs.
Starting as a songwriter before stepping into the spotlight, John Paul White produces music with meaning. Gritty, soulful vocals pair with folk balladry and lonesome campfire songs in an experience that is expected of John Paul White. When addressing the importance of music, White’s description connects to every audience he plays for, “if you had to sum up what music is for most people in this world, it’s that. It’s that escape. It’s that refuge. You go there and you come back and you use that to help you with your life. You always have that as a place to go.”
David Shaw & Zack Feinberg (The Revivalists) will co-headline AMP Fest with additional acts including: Adam Faucett, Opal Agafia and the Sweet Nothings, Goose, Will Brand, Vulpî, DJ Abboriginal and AttA.
The one-day festival includes cutting-edge games, technology activations and interactive experiences as well as live music on three stages and craft beers from more than 20 local, regional and national breweries. A detailed list of breweries, schedule of performances and activations can be found online at www.amptickets.com.
Ticket prices are $45 and include a collectable glass for beer sampling and access to all activation experiences. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Walmart AMP Box Office in Rogers, Walton Arts Center Box Office in Fayetteville, by calling 479.443.5600 or visiting www.amptickets.com.
In 2016 AMP Fest raised $83,000. Private support raised through these events allow Walton Arts Center to offer most education programs at low or no cost to more than 40,000 students, teachers, families and individuals in Northwest Arkansas.
