Obsession

Sarina

Obsession · 2026

Tokyo-based artist Sarina returns with a dark alternative rock release that explores the destructive side of romantic attachment. Built around the emotional cycle of toxic love, the track captures the moment when intense feelings become something difficult to control. Rather than romanticising obsession, she confronts it with direct lyrics and a powerful vocal performance. Blending feral alternative rock with pop-punk energy, Sarina delivers a sound that reflects her shift away from her earlier pop-oriented material towards a heavier, more uncompromising musical identity. Her commanding vocals give the subject matter an added intensity, turning a deeply personal confrontation into a statement about recognising unhealthy relationships and finding the strength to walk away. Born in Hawaii to a Lebanese mother and Japanese father, Sarina grew up in Tokyo surrounded by music. She previously released several singles and her debut EP, Foreward, under Sony's RED label before co-founding SyrenSong and securing a distribution deal with Warner/ADA. Since 2024, she has worked with platinum record producer Kevin Thrasher, known for collaborations with artists including Panic! At The Disco, Blink-182 and Avril Lavigne. Their partnership has shaped her recent projects, including the EPs Break Out!! and The Fool. Beyond her solo releases, Sarina contributed vocals to Square Enix's role-playing game Triangle Strategy, working with composer Senju Akira. With major playlist placements, international performances and new music on the horizon, she continues to build a distinctive presence in the alternative rock scene.
