Fayetteville – Southern raconteur Paul Thorn is bringing five-time Grammy award winning gospel icons, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and legendary gospel group, The McCray Sisters, toon Saturday, Nov. 17 at 8 pm for the Mission Temple Fireworks Revival.
Thorn, a former boxer and literal ‘son of a preacher man,’ has often touched on spiritual themes in his songs, but he has never released a true gospel album until Don’t Let the Devil Ride in March 2018. And, of course, the Blind Boys release nothing but gospel albums.
Thorn and the Blind Boys of Alabama have each garnered kudos for their recordings, but it is their live shows that have propelled these artists’ reputations. Their soulful performances and heartfelt songs of redemption and healing have earned them high praise from fans and critics alike.
For The McCrary Sisters, Ann, Deborah, Regina and Alfreda, music is a birthright, lifelong love affair, sometimes career, indescribable joy and, occasionally, a cross to bear. The McCrarys have also been part of numerous all-star “house bands” on broadcast shows including Americana Music Honors Awards, PBS Salute to Troops at the White House, Grammy Legends, CMT Festival and CMA Awards.
Joining together for the first time in a wide-ranging and inspiring musical performance, Mission Temple Fireworks Revival is a unique experience blending music that not only spans genres, but generations as well. During this performance, Thorn’s versatile band will provide backing for an entire night of entertainment. The headliners will each have their moment in the spotlight and also collaborate together in a show that will have the audience up and stomping their feet. This one-of-a-kind experience will be, as Thorn says, “like taking a six-pack to church!”
Tickets range from $29 to $49 plus applicable fees. Patrons can also purchase reserved parking in the Spring Street deck for $7. Tickets and parking can be purchased in-person at the Walton Arts Center Box Office, by calling 479.443.5600 or by visiting.
