EX-FAYETTEVILLE ROCKER, FORMER STATE SENATOR JON WOODS SENTENCED

Fayetteville – Jon Woods, a former Republican Arkansas State Senator from Springdale, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in federal prison for fraud and money laundering charges.

Local CBS affiliate KFSM reports that Woods, 41, received the sentence for organizing and leading a bribery scheme in which state funds were directed to non-profit entities in exchange for kickbacks, many of which were funneled through a consultant’s business. Woods appeared before U.S. District Judge Tim Brooks, who handed down the sentence at the John Paul Hammerschmidt Federal Building in downtown Fayetteville on Wednesday.

Woods is also a record producer and musician in northwest Arkansas, who helped form Fayetteville alternative rock outfit A Good Fight.
