From the folk stylings of Ray LaMontagne and Neko Case at the Arkansas Music Pavilion to the very best in Arkansas heavy metal, here’s Shindigmusic’s picks for the best live music events for the week of June 11-17 2018.
Tuesday, June 12 – Arkansas Music Pavilion – Rogers
Folk rock hero Ray LaMontagne will headline Tuesday night’s festivities at the Arkansas Music Pavilion. LaMontagne, on tour to support his seventh studio album, Part of the Light, has a dreamy, but minimal, no nonsense style, which harkens back to the Music from Big Pink-era of folk music. The album is LaMontagne’s follow-up to 2016’s excellent Ouroboros, which featured and was produced by My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James. LaMontagne will be joined by singer-songwriter and ex-New Pornographers vocalist Neko Case. Case’s intimate, but powerful vocals are on full display on her latest album Hell-On, which may be her strongest release to date. This should be a great show. Tickets are on sale now starting at $46.50.
Wednesday, June 13 – George’s Majestic Lounge – Fayetteville
Pointless Promotions brings the heavy to Fayetteville this Wednesday as Little Rock’s SUMOKEM return for their second George’s appearance following January’s explosive performance with Pallbearer. Along for the ride are Fayetteville Prog-metal titans Terminus and the totally bitchin’ Witchsister. This show is gonna kick your ass! Tickets are $10
Friday, June 15 – Sunday, June 17 – Revolution Music Room/White Water Tavern – Little Rock
Arkansas’s own micro-festival dedicated to the art of heavy music. Mutants of The Monster 2018 features a brutal lineup of some of the regions heaviest ensembles. Featuring YOB, FULL OF HELL, PALLBEARER, GATECREEPER, BELL WITCH, LIVING SACRIFICE, WVRM, RWAKE, MINSK, YAUTJA, DEADBIRD, TERMINAL NATION, SUMOKEM, and more. Friday and Saturday: Revolution Music Room / Sunday: White Water Tavern Event Page
Friday, June 15 – Stickyz Rock N’ Roll Chicken Shack – Little Rock
Fayetteville transplants, The Ben Miller Band, have been a regional favorite for almost a decade. Fresh off the release of their latest album Choke Cherry Tree, the band has been touring heavily across the US and Europe and should be in knockout form. Go see what all the fuss is about! Tickets are $10.
Saturday, June 16 – The Record – Bentonville
Little Rock’s Dazz & Brie return to Northwest Arkansas to perform at Bentonville’s hottest new live music venue, The Record. The 2017 Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase winners have been wowing crowds across the state with their mix of funk, rock, pop, and soul. $5 Cover.
