Ghost Funk Orchestra are preparing to release Leave Me Alone on October 6, marking the next chapter for the Brooklyn-based musical collective led by composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Seth Applebaum.

The forthcoming single arrives from a project that has spent years challenging conventional genre boundaries. Drawing from psychedelic soul, cinematic funk, jazz, Latin rhythms and experimental rock, Ghost Funk Orchestra have developed a musical identity rooted in ambitious arrangements and an openness to new ideas.

Applebaum initially established Ghost Funk Orchestra as a home-recording project, handling much of the composition and production himself. Over time, the project evolved into a full ensemble, bringing his compositions to the stage and expanding the possibilities of the music through collaboration and live performance.

That development has been reflected across the group's catalogue. From Night Walker and An Ode to Escapism to A New Kind of Love and A Trip to the Moon, Ghost Funk Orchestra have explored different combinations of vintage soul, psychedelia and orchestral composition. Their recordings draw on established musical traditions while leaving considerable room for experimentation.

The group's work has also attracted attention beyond the recording studio. Their performances have taken them across the United States and Europe, while their distinctive approach to arrangement has earned coverage from music publications including Bandcamp, Wire and Far Out Magazine.

Leave Me Alone follows that established body of work, adding another release to a catalogue defined by stylistic variety. Further details about the new song's lyrical themes and individual recording credits have not yet been confirmed.

For Applebaum, Ghost Funk Orchestra has grown from a personal recording experiment into a collaborative musical project with an increasingly international audience. The forthcoming single continues that journey as the collective prepares to introduce its latest material.

Leave Me Alone is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026.
