Lin-Manuel Miranda has gathered the music surrounding the stage run into a box set titled Rise Up! Hamilton: The Anthology. Rather than focusing strictly on the show itself, the release charts how the production moved out of the theater and into commercial studio recordings over the course of its initial decade.

The collection arrives in two physical configurations, a seven-disc vinyl package and a five-disc compact disc edition. Pressing the assembled material onto vinyl takes up seven individual LPs, providing plenty of shelf presence for the music written during and directly after the stage run. The five compact discs hold the exact same program, serving listeners who want the complete archive in a smaller format.

The foundation of the anthology is the original 2015 Broadway cast recording. For listeners who could not attend the theatrical production in New York, that studio document served as the primary introduction to Miranda's dense writing and historical narrative. The recording locked down the original Broadway arrangements, capturing the stage production in its initial form before companion projects began adjusting its framework.

The anthology follows that original performance with The Hamilton Mixtape, released in 2016. That collection took the score away from traditional theatrical staging and placed it in studio settings, accentuating the hip-hop, pop, and rhythm influences Miranda drew upon when writing the show. Placing the mixtape directly beside the cast album highlights the connection between the original stage orchestrations and their contemporary counterparts.
