Los Angeles dream-pop band soft siren are heading toward the release of their debut album with Feeling Down, a hazy new track that blends ethereal vocals, gritty guitars and a strong sense of 90s and 2000s nostalgia.
The song moves between dream pop, shoegaze and neo-psychedelic rock, drawing on the atmospheric qualities that have become central to the band’s sound. Its vocals sit above a warm, guitar-driven arrangement, creating a contrast between softness and distortion.
Lyrically, the track looks inward. It explores ego, escapism and the realization that sometimes the thing a person is trying to escape is themselves. That darker idea sits against a sound that remains melodic and surprisingly uplifting.
The song is the latest step toward the band’s debut album 4AM, due October 23. The record follows the group’s earlier releases, including their debut single 4am, which helped establish their blend of shoegaze, trip-hop and psychedelic influences.
Formed in Los Angeles by Sidewalks and Skeletons, CASHFORGOLD and Michael Coe, soft siren have developed a sound shaped by artists such as Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star and Lana Del Rey. Their music combines ethereal vocals with feedback-heavy guitars, creating an atmosphere that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
The new single has already attracted attention ahead of its release, with a teaser shared by the band on TikTok surpassing 750,000 views. An official music video is also planned, while the forthcoming album will receive a physical release through Vertigo Vinyl.
With 4AM arriving next month, Feeling Down offers another glimpse into the world soft siren have been building: dreamy, melancholic and guitar-driven, but never completely lost in the haze.
