Tomora came together earlier this year when Norwegian vocalist Aurora joined forces with Tom Rowlands of The Chemical Brothers. Their first full length record, Come Closer, centered on the idea of human connection, pairing her voice with his production. Rather than stepping away after that debut campaign, the pair have moved straight into their next phase by announcing Celebration, a five track extended play. Alongside the announcement, the duo have shared the EP title track as an initial taste of the project.
The single relies on the foundational balance that defines the project, placing vocal melodies from Aurora across an energetic, driving electronic rhythm constructed by Rowlands. The track title also carries weight beyond regular festivities. When discussing the track, the pair pointed out that celebration is not merely about having a good time. Instead, they frame it as a personal privilege, an individual, a funeral, and an essential ritual. To them, celebration reflects basic human nature, rooted in a necessary impulse to acknowledge other people as living, real beings.
Capitol Records has scheduled Celebration for a digital arrival on October 16, while physical editions will land in shops on November 27. The tracklist spreads out over five selections. Along with the title piece, the release gathers Hold On Let Go and What Do We Got. It also includes an alternate Celebration Ritual Mix and a live studio performance of In A Minute, building on the expanded ten minute edition of the song that surfaced during the Come Closer era.
The quick turnaround in the studio coincides with an extensive run of live appearances. Over the summer, Rowlands and Aurora tested their stage set in front of festival audiences at Coachella and Fuji Rock. Their autumn itinerary begins immediately in China, playing the Strawberry Festival in Shijiazhuang on September 25 and Guangzhou on September 27. From there, they head to Japan to headline the Tokyo Garden Theatre on October 1.
Later in October, the duo will launch a run across the United Kingdom and Ireland. That routing takes them to the National Stadium in Dublin on October 24, SWG3 Galvanizers in Glasgow on October 26, and the Roundhouse in London on October 28, where tickets are already sold out. European stops immediately follow, beginning at L'Aéronef in Lille on October 30, continuing to Amare in The Hague on October 31, and finishing at UFO in Berlin on November 1.
Tomora have also mapped out plans for early next year, marking their debut East Coast headline appearance in the United States with a concert at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York on March 24. They then travel south to Mexico City for a show at Pabellón Oeste on March 26. Reflecting on their live setup, Aurora stated that their goal is to leave no structure standing by the end of each set. The intention is to create an uninhibited, physical, and dynamic room where both the musicians and the audience share an experience without judgment.
