There is a particular energy associated with the blog era of hip-hop, when distinctive production, memorable verses and individual artistic identity helped define the sound of a generation. Demetrius revisits that spirit on Perfect Timing, a track from WESTx2, his collaborative album with UK producer Session 600. Built around a combination of gritty beats and direct lyricism, the track draws on the foundations of classic hip-hop while maintaining a contemporary feel. Its appeal lies in that balance between familiarity and progression, bringing back elements of an era that continues to influence rap while presenting them through a modern production approach. Hailing from Frederick, Maryland, Demetrius has been developing a sound shaped by personal experiences, emotional honesty and social observation. His delivery places emphasis on storytelling and sharp writing, favouring substance and individuality over unnecessary gimmicks. With a distinctive voice and an uncompromising approach, he represents an underground hip-hop perspective rooted in authenticity. Perfect Timing forms part of WESTx2, a collaborative project that brings together Demetrius's lyrical approach and Session 600's production. The partnership provides a setting for the rapper to explore a sound that connects classic influences with a more current musical direction. With Perfect Timing, Demetrius demonstrates his appreciation for the qualities that made the blog era memorable while keeping his focus firmly on the present. It is a release for listeners who value strong verses, considered production and hip-hop that puts the music and the artist's identity first.
