1. Let's start with Pure Aura. How did this album come together, and how long have you been working on it?
The idea behind this project was to create a vibrant, laid-back yet upbeat atmosphere, capturing the essence of soulfulness through a variety of sounds and genres. I drew inspiration from Latin, Afrocentric African and Caribbean musical traditions, alongside elements of pop music.
From the initial concept to completion, the project took almost a year.
2. There are some interesting titles on the album, especially Mother, Gratitude and For My Father. What's the story behind these songs?
Mother is about expressing all the amazing and incomparable qualities that my mother represents as a person. Without mothers, humanity would not exist, and I believe it is incredibly important to honour and celebrate them. I hope this song can become a universal way for people to express their appreciation for their mothers.
Gratitude is about the Creator of all existence, God, and the mercy, grace, love and countless wonders He bestows upon us.
For My Father is a dedication to my late father. He was and will always be everything to me. It was extremely difficult to find the right words and the right way to express something so deep and meaningful, both sonically and lyrically. I believe this is the first of many more songs to come. It is a combination of celebration, mourning, a war cry and a statement of strength.
3. Was there a particular song that was more difficult to write or record than the others?
Definitely For My Father. It was immensely difficult to write and record because of the deep emotional, mental and spiritual connection it represents for me.
4. Your music brings together soul, R&B, pop and indie influences. How do you find your sound, and do you enjoy moving between different styles?
For me, music is music. I intentionally preserve the freedom to explore different genres without limitations. The core foundation of my sound is my singing voice. It is important to remember that the first instrument is the human voice.
5. When you're writing a song, do you usually draw from your own experiences, or do you sometimes find inspiration in stories around you?
It is a mixture of both. I draw inspiration from personal experiences as well as the stories and experiences of others, and I allow the creative process to happen naturally.
6. You've built your musical journey in London. How has the city influenced you and your music?
London has influenced me immensely. Having travelled around the world and lived in different countries, I have always been exposed to various genres and different forms of musical expression.
London is definitely a driving force in musical expression. Its art, culture, lifestyle and diversity have all influenced certain aspects of my music.
7. Is there a song on Pure Aura that you feel represents you best?
That's a difficult question because every song represents a different side of my multidimensional artistic expression.
8. What's happening next for you? Can listeners expect more music or live performances soon?
There will be more albums, more live shows and continuous expansion in every direction.
