Barcelona will host the next edition of Sónar from June 17 through June 19 in 2027, and organizers have started outlining their plans with an initial roster of 30 acts. The announcement provides the first glimpse into an event that will ultimately feature more than 80 performances and activities spread across the three days. By publishing roughly a third of the schedule this far in advance, the festival establishes a tone that spans long-running club traditions, current dance favorites, and vocal pop songwriting.

A centerpiece of the early roster is Carl Cox, whose presence marks a return to Sónar following an extended absence. Cox has spent decades as a central presence in international club culture, and his booking connects the upcoming weekend to the classic electronic styles that helped establish the event during its earlier years. His history with Barcelona audiences gives the booking added weight, giving the dance schedule a veteran anchor known for running foundational techno sets.

The announcement also makes room for artists who approach electronic music from outside the confines of standard DJ booths. Bonobo enters the bill with a style shaped by intricate production, ambient textures, and live performance dynamics. Jessie Ware brings a song-based focus built on disco, soul, and dance-pop, placing a distinct vocal presence onto the weekend program. Incorporating performers whose material relies on traditional song forms breaks up the rhythm of the festival, presenting an alternative to continuous club mixing without pulling away from dance rhythms.

Current dance and urban scenes occupy a prominent place across the list as well. Peggy Gou joins the roster as an act with widespread reach across radio and international clubs, while Tokischa adds Latin and urban club formats to the schedule. Putting those names on the same poster as classic house and techno figures shows how the festival continues to bridge different club traditions, pairing regional sounds with broad European dance styles.

With over 50 additions still to come before the gates open on June 17, 2027, this initial group of 30 artists merely establishes the framework for what Sónar plans to present. The remaining announcements will determine how the rest of the 80 performances take shape, filling in the gaps between traditional club veterans, global pop performers, and live electronic acts.
